A Special Gift for Seniors from “Sarah’s Fund” Day

Seniors at The Dolly Parton My People Senior Center Enjoy Another “Sarah’s Fund” Day

Thanks to your help and The Sarah Timmons Activities Program (Sarah’s Fund), Sevier County, TN seniors look forward to having some fun each and every month! And these activities would not be possible without the extremely passionate professional activities staff at the Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center. Since its establishment, Sarah’s Fund has helped provide monthly activities and travel for Sevier County, TN seniors at home and for those in short and long-term, assisted living.

This month’s activities included special entertainment from Mickey Clark, lunch, an ice cream social and a special gift during a craft activity.

Karen Estep, Business Manager for the Senior Center, shared the success of the most recent “Sarah’s Fund” Day.

“Our entertainer, Mickey Clark was fabulous and he was very impressed by what you allow us to do each month.”

Special Gift

In addition to their entertainment, seniors ended the day with a special gift from this month’s activity. Each person left with a bracelet featuring an angel with a special message:

“This angel is cute and sweet, but real angels are mighty warriors of God. We hope this angel reminds you that God loves you and His angels always watch over you, and He is always there for you.”

This small token was given to each participant as a reminder that they are loved! And with each “Sarah’s Fund” Day, we continue to honor the legacy of Sarah Scott Timmons by providing our community’s seniors monthly activities to ensure they’re happy, healthy and active!

Sarah’s Fund was developed in partnership with S.D. Professionals’ President, Jacob Timmons, and the Sevier County Council on Aging staff at the Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center. Together they work to identify seniors isolated at home as well as lacking the ability to attend activities outside of their home or healthcare facility.
